The purpose of the Deacons is to assist the pastor in the enlistment of new members; conduct the conference for members-elect; act upon all applications for membership; act upon all letters of dismissal or transfer; supervise the assimilation of new members; conduct an annual review of the church's membership roll; supply the pulpit in the minister's absence and the interim during the time between pastorates; seat the congregation at the various church services; serve communion.
